HMU COLLECTIVE - TERMS OF USE

Welcome to HMU Collective.

HMU Collective is a professional directory and platform designed to help hair and makeup freelancers showcase their work and connect with hiring creatives looking for paid talent.

 

By creating an account or using this platform, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use HMU Collective.

 

1. WHO CAN JOIN

To use HMU Collective, you must:

 

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Be legally permitted to work in the country or countries you operate in

  • Provide accurate, truthful, and up-to-date information when creating your account

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide in your portfolio, including experience, skills, and availability, is correct.

2. MEMBERSHIP, PRICING & PAYMENTS

  • HMU Collective is a membership-based platform and is not a job board.

  • Membership is currently offered as a one-off lifetime payment under the Founding 500 initiative.

  • Once 500 active portfolios are live on the platform, HMU Collective will introduce a subscription-based model for new members.

  • Founding 500 members will retain lifetime access under their original terms.

  • All payments are processed securely via Wix Payments or approved payment providers.

  • Membership fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.

HMU Collective reserves the right to update pricing models for future members while honouring existing memberships.

3. FREELANCER RESPONSIBILITIES

By creating a portfolio on HMU Collective, you agree that:

  • You are responsible for keeping your portfolio, skills, location, availability, and contact details up to date.

  • You consent to being contacted by hiring creatives regarding paid opportunities via the platform.

  • Your email address will not be publicly visible on your portfolio. It will only be used to facilitate direct contact when a hiring creative clicks the “Book me” button.

  • You are responsible for responding to enquiries and deciding whether to accept or decline work.

  • You are responsible for your own tax obligations, invoicing, contracts, insurance, and compliance with local laws.

HMU Collective does not manage bookings, contracts, payments, or negotiations between users.

4. HIRING CREATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

Hiring creatives using HMU Collective agree that:

 

  • HMU Collective may only be used to contact freelancers for paid work.

  • Requests for unpaid work, free trials, speculative work, or “exposure” are strictly prohibited.

  • You are responsible for ensuring fair, lawful, and professional hiring practices.

  • You must provide clear information about the role, expectations, location, and payment terms when contacting freelancers.

HMU Collective does not vet freelancers. Hiring decisions and due diligence remain your responsibility.

5. COMMUNICATION & CONTACT

  • HMU Collective facilitates introductions only.

  • When a hiring creative clicks “Book me”, communication is initiated directly with the freelancer using the email address provided in their account.

  • HMU Collective does not monitor, moderate, or participate in communications between users.

  • All agreements, negotiations, and outcomes occur independently of the platform.

6. PAID WORK POLICY

HMU Collective exists to support sustainable freelance careers.

 

  • The platform is paid-work only.

  • Any user found offering or soliciting unpaid work may have their account suspended or removed.

  • HMU Collective reserves the right to investigate reports of unpaid or exploitative practices.

7. CODE OF CONDUCT

All users are expected to behave professionally and respectfully.

 

You must not:

  • Engage in harassment, discrimination, or abusive behaviour

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information

  • Spam or misuse the platform

  • Attempt to bypass platform safeguards or misuse user data

HMU Collective reserves the right to remove content or users that violate these standards.

8. PLATFORM LIMITATIONS & LIABILITY

  • HMU Collective is a directory and discovery platform, not an employer, agent, or representative.

  • We do not guarantee work, bookings, income, or outcomes.

  • HMU Collective is not responsible for disputes, payments, contracts, cancellations, or disagreements between users.

  • Users engage with one another at their own discretion and risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HMU Collective is not liable for losses arising from use of the platform.

9. ACCOUNT SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION

HMU Collective may suspend or terminate accounts if a user:

 

  • Violates these Terms of Use

  • Engages in unethical or prohibited behaviour

  • Provides false or misleading information

  • Uses the platform in a way that undermines its purpose or integrity

10. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS

These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the platform or legal requirements.

 

Continued use of HMU Collective after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
