HMU Collective is built for two groups of people.
First, freelance hair and makeup artists who want to elevate their careers and be more visible for paid work. Members can create a portfolio, appear in the searchable directory, and use tools and resources designed to support freelance working life.
Second, hiring creatives who need to find skilled hair and makeup artists clearly and efficiently. This includes producers, directors, designers, writers, photographers, and studios who want a straigh
HMU Collective doesn’t guarantee work. It exists to give hair and makeup artists a consistent way to be visible for paid opportunities and to put more control back in your hands when it comes to your career. It also makes it easier for hiring creatives to find the right person without trawling through CVs, WhatsApp groups, or Instagram DMs. When both sides can find each other more easily, work tends to happen more fairly and with less friction.
HMU Collective isn’t an agency and doesn’t book work for you. Hiring creatives contact you directly through your portfolio, and you handle all conversations around rates, availability, and contracts yourselves.
The Founding 500 is a one-off access offer for the first 500 members. £15 gives you a directory listing and access to the Freelancer Toolkit. £45 includes all of that, plus the book More Than Good Makeup.
There’s no subscription to cancel as access is a one-off payment. If you don’t want to be contacted for work for a while, you can switch off your availability on your portfolio. If you want your account removed completely, you can contact HMU Collective (https://www.hmu-collective.com/contact)and we will delete your details and account with immediate effect.
Jobs aren’t posted on HMU Collective. It isn’t a job board. Instead, it’s a searchable directory designed to help hair and makeup artists be seen by people who are actively looking to hire for paid creative work. Hiring creatives browse the directory, view portfolios, and contact freelancers directly when they find the right fit.
